The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) will hold its Annual Business Meeting (ABM) 2020 on Friday, 16 October 2020. The meeting will be conducted virtually and livestreamed through the link which can be accessed by PICPA Members in Good Standing (MiGs) at PICPA Facebook page on 16 October 2020 at 10:00 a.m.

PICPA National President FY 2020-2021
Our national president graduated Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Accounting at Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) in 1986. He finished Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Centro Escolar University and now a candidate for Doctor in Business Administration (DBA) at La Consolacion University of the Philippines.
After passing the CPA Board, he joined SyCip Gorres Velayo & Co., (SGV & Co.) CPAs, and he resigned after five (5) years. Together with two (2) of his colleagues from SGV, they organized Quilab Cabilin Bato & Co., (QCB & Co.) CPAs, a Regional Audit Firm based in Mindanao. In 2016, after almost twenty-five (25) years with QCB, he started his own firm known as Lope Laranjo Bato & Co., (LLB & Co.) CPAs together with five (5) of his senior managers as founding partners.
Our president has been in the practice of Public Accounting and Taxation since he became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) as a Senior Auditor of SGV & Co., CPAs to Managing Partner of QCB & Co., CPAs and now as Chairman and CEO of LLB & Co., CPAs, a Member Firm of the “Leading Edge Alliance Global”, with head office in Cagayan de Oro City and eight (8) branches operating nationwide. In his almost thirty-three (33) years in the practice of Public Accounting and Taxation, he was able to obtain two (2) global certifications, namely, “Certified Forensic Accountant (CrFA) and Certified Internal Control Auditor (CICA). While practicing his profession as a CPA under the banner of QCB & Co., CPAs, he concurrently led a Rural Bank based in Cagayan de Oro City for fifteen (15) years from 1997 to 2012 as its President and CEO.
Our president has been very active with his professional organization, the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), having served in various capacities until he became the youngest Chapter President of PICPA Cagayan de Oro – Misamis Oriental Chapter in 1996 and National Vice-President for Public Practice (PICPA National) in 2009. He is likewise very active with the Association of CPAs in Public Practice (ACPAPP) having served as the Founding President of ACPAPP Northern Mindanao Chapter and as a Member of the ACPAPP National Board for two (2) terms. He was awarded, among others, Outstanding PICPA Member in 2006, Honorary Lifetime Member of PICPA in 2010, Outstanding MSU-IIT Alumnus (TOMA) in the field of Banking and Finance in 2009, and Most Outstanding Director of the Rotary of Club of Cagayan de Oro (Mother Club) in 2003.
Our president was again elected to PICPA National Board in 2019 as Regional Director representing Northern Mindanao Region and serves as the Executive Vice- President of PICPA up to June 30, 2020. Effective July 1, 2020, he assumes the office of the National President of PICPA for the fiscal year 2020-2021. Ex Officio and incumbent Chair of the PICPA Foundation, Immediate Past President Evelyn Sungueb Corpuz hails from Carasi, Ilocos Norte where she is the LGU Chief Accountant. She has received distinguished awards that include her Special Citation for Financial Management, Northern Luzon Region (70th ANCON), Distinguished Service Award and Leadership Award as LGAO Chairperson (2015, and 2014-2015, respectively), Outstanding Diamond Jubilee Alumna Award in Accountancy and Business (NWU), Distinguished Service Award as SGC President from CNHS (2016). She has served PICPA as a leader in various positions starting as Chapter President of PICPA Ilocos Norte in 2006.
Her career in PICPA's culmination was when she ascended to Presidency in FY 2019-2020.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. The ABM can also be accessed via livestreaming at PICPA Facebook page on 16 October 2020 at 10:00 a.m.
The following agenda has been set for the ABM:

II. Proof of Publication of Notice of Meeting;
III. Certification as to Presence of Quorum;
IV. Reading and Approval of Minutes of Previous Meeting held on 19 July 2019;
V. Matters Arising from the Previous Meeting;
VI. Report of the President;
VII. Report of the Treasurer;
VIII. Ratification of the Board Resolutions from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020;
IX. Approval of the Proposed Amendments of By-Laws on the Manner of Voting under
Section 13 of Article XII, and Vote under Section 5 of Article XIII to provide on-line voting;
X. Determination of the place for the next annual meeting;
XI. Other Matters; and
XII. Adjournment.
PICPA members in good standing (MGS) of record as of 15 October 2020 are entitled to vote at this ABM.
In the light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ABM will be conducted virtually. The ABM will be streamed live, and PICPA Members may attend, participate and vote only through proxy, remote communication or in absentia by registering using the online link https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_e4WeP2S4Tfq7Dp-FRiEuSAor using Zoom Meeting ID: 954 8514 0640 with Meeting Passcode: 246330.After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. The conduct of the ABM shall be governed by the following rules:
§ PICPA MGS who wish to be recognized in the determination of a quorum at the virtual ABM are requested to notify PICPA National Office of their intention to participate in the ABM by remote communication or in absentia through an email to Anna Lissa Dycaico, PICPA National Secretary, liezljonz@yahoo.com on or before October 10, 2020. For validation purposes, members shall also provide the National Office the following information: (i) name; (ii) PRC ID No.; and (iii) mobile number. A member in good standing must have virtual presence in person or by proxy for purposes of establishing a quorum that will be determined during the meeting.
§ PICPA MGS who wish to participate by proxy must accomplish the PROXY FORM on or before October 15, 2020. Please follow this link https://bit.ly/OnlineProxyForm. (Note that this is the updated and simplified automatically submitted form that does not need any download-upload action for submission. ) Validation of proxies shall be on October 15, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at the PICPA National office.
§ During the ABM, members who wish to make a remark shall identify himself after being acknowledged by the Chairman and shall be limited to the relevant items in the Agenda under consideration. Questions and/or remarks may be sent in advance or during the meeting to the PICPA National Secretary via email at liezljonz@yahoo.com.
§ Each item in the Agenda requiring vote of the members will be shown on the screen simultaneously as they are being taken up in the meeting. The Office of National Secretary will tabulate all votes received and the results will be reported to the members during the meeting.
§ All confirmed members must log into the meeting link at least 30 minutes before the meeting starts, to avoid any technical difficulties. The meeting will start promptly at 10:00 a.m. on October 16, 2020. The meeting shall be recorded in audio and video format and copies shall be posted by the Institute in its website.
