Rationale
As Philippine HEIs are in the process of transitioning to the OBTL framework, accounting educators are currently assessing how things are "traditionally" conducted inside the classroom. Particularly, assessment in accounting context must be aligned with the prevailing educational paradigm (i.e., OBTL). Therefore, accounting educators must be able to determine and apply OBTL-aligned assessment concepts inside the classroom.
Focus
This seminar focuses on (a) survey of assessment practices in Philippine Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), (b) common terms and concepts in assessment, (c) review of key Outcome-Based Teaching & Learning (OBTL) concepts, (d) assessment in an OBTL environment (i.e. ASEAN University Network (AUN) Assessment Standards), (e) improvement of traditional assessment in accounting education, (f) innovative and genuine assessment in accounting education, (g) development of valid and reliable test items (pen and paper), (h) preparation of common documents related to assessment, (i) continuous improvement in assessing learning outcomes in accounting education.
Outcome
At the end of the seminar, participants are expected to apply assessment concepts, principles and best practices inside the classroom. Also, participants are expected to prepare common assessment documents for accounting courses.
